The first verse of this song is a mantra I sing to myself from time to time, basically to give me courage. I probably sang it for a year before I thought to put anything else with it. The other verse came on a trip to San Antonio in the car.
It's a simple song, really. The voice of fear is always shrill, loud, and demands your full attention. It will insist that you drop everything. The voice of love is often soft you just might miss it. It doesn't really ever insist on much, but always hopes you'll listen.
Maybe that's why some people never hear it, and think fear is all there is.
