One day, Dennise had a meeting in Austin, so I took the day off and joined her. While she met with her group, I played hooky, down by the river. Austin has helped inspire several songs through the years. And, at that time, I was in the middle of some pretty long-term writers block. I'd been reading "The Artist's Way," by Julia Cameron, and trying to find away past the block. Sitting just outside the gates of Barton Springs, at a picnic table near some of the springs, I wrote in my journal and watched people for several hours.

It had been a particularly dry time, creatively, and I was feeling really "blocked" by something that I couldn't name. Then, I just started watching this bubbling little stream, flowing into the creek, flowing into the river. And the whole scene just spoke this song to me.
